
About Marcus Coleridge
Marcus Coleridge is an up-and-coming Bass-Baritone from Cornwall working and studying at in London and growing his professional career in performing.
My Story
Marcus Coleridge is a classical bass-baritone currently studying for a Performance Master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music, London, where he holds the Eleanor Margaret Scholarship and studies with acclaimed tenor Richard Berkeley-Steele. He graduated in 2024 with a BMus from Royal Holloway, University of London, where he held a three-year choral scholarship with the Chapel Choir under Rupert Gough and studied with former BBC Singer Stuart MacIntyre. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Dame Felicity Lott Bursary to support his future career development as a professional singer.

As a soloist, Marcus has performed in several broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4, including a live Radio 3 performance of Eleanor Daley’s Requiem on 6th of November 2025, marking the release of the new Royal Holloway recording. He has contributed to a number of commercial recordings with the Choir of Royal Holloway, collaborating with composers such as Ola Gjeilo, Cecilia McDowall and Matthew Coleridge.

Marcus maintains an active freelance career across the UK. Notable engagements include Handel’s Messiah at St George’s Hall, Bristol with Rupert Gough, Haydn’s Theresienmesse with Francis Faux and the Lucis Choir at Malmesbury Abbey, Fauré’s Requiem with the Mount Kelly Choral Society under Julian Jensen, and Matthew Coleridge’s Requiem with the Omnium Ensemble at Merton College Chapel, conducted by the composer. He also sings regularly with the choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford.

On the operatic stage, Marcus recently appeared in the chorus for Bizet’s Carmen with Royal Academy Opera. He returns to the Academy stage on 14 January as the Usher in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial By Jury and will appear in the forthcoming Opera Scenes in February as ‘Il Principe’ in Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur. He also sings regularly with the choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford.

Marcus maintains a close partnership with pianist Henry Smith, with whom he presents a recital series for voice and piano. Together, they have performed in venues including St Werburgh’s, Chester.
